At age 13, Bill stood in for a sick pianist in Buddy Valentino's rehearsal band, where Harry was already playing the trumpet. During high school, Evans came in contact with 20th-century music like Stravinsky's Petrushka, which he called a "tremendous experience", and Milhaud's Suite provençale, whose bitonal language he believed "opened him to new things." Around the same time came his first exposure to jazz, when at age 12 he heard Tommy Dorsey and Harry James's bands on the radio. He later named Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert as composers whose work he often played. He soon dropped those instruments, but it is believed they later influenced his keyboard style. At the age of seven, Bill began violin lessons, and soon also flute and piccolo. He quickly developed a fluent sight-reading ability, but Leland considered Harry a better pianist. Įvans remembered Leland with affection for not insisting on a heavy technical approach, with scales and arpeggios. Bill was thought to be too young for lessons, but he began to play what he had heard during his brother's instruction, and soon both were taking piano lessons. There, Harry began piano lessons somewhere between ages 5 and 7 with local teacher Helen Leland. Given Harry Evans Sr.'s destructive character, Mary Evans often left home with her sons to go to nearby Somerville, to stay with her sister Justine and the Epps family. Bill had a brother, Harry (Harold), two years his senior, with whom he was very close. The marriage was stormy because of his father's heavy drinking, gambling, and abuse. His father was of Welsh descent and ran a golf course his mother was of Rusyn ancestry and descended from a family of coal miners. Biography Early life Įvans grew up in North Plainfield, New Jersey, the son of Harry and Mary Evans (née Soroka). Evans received 31 Grammy nominations and seven awards, and was inducted into the DownBeat Jazz Hall of Fame. Many of Evans's compositions, such as " Waltz for Debby" and " Time Remembered", have become standards, played and recorded by many artists. During the mid-1970s Bill Evans collaborated with the singer Tony Bennett on two critically acclaimed albums: The Tony Bennett/Bill Evans Album (1975) and Together Again (1977). In 1966, he met bassist Eddie Gómez, with whom he worked for the next 11 years. In 1963, Evans recorded Conversations with Myself, a solo album produced with overdubbing technology. After months without public performances, Evans reemerged with a new trio, featuring bassist Chuck Israels. However, ten days after this booking ended, LaFaro died in a car accident. In 1961, they recorded two albums during an engagement at New York's Village Vanguard jazz club, Sunday at the Village Vanguard and Waltz for Debby a complete set of their Vanguard recordings on three CDs was issued decades later. In late 1959, Evans left the Miles Davis band and began his career as a leader, with bassist Scott LaFaro and drummer Paul Motian, a group now regarded as a seminal modern jazz trio. In 1958, Evans joined Miles Davis's sextet, which in 1959, then immersed in modal jazz, recorded Kind of Blue, the best-selling jazz album ever. In 1955, he moved to New York City, where he worked with bandleader and theorist George Russell. His interpretations of traditional jazz repertoire, his ways of using impressionist harmony and block chords, and his trademark rhythmically independent, "singing" melodic lines, continue to influence jazz pianists today.īorn in Plainfield, New Jersey, United States, he studied classical music at Southeastern Louisiana University and the Mannes School of Music, in New York City, where he majored in composition and received the Artist Diploma. William John Evans (August 16, 1929 – September 15, 1980) was an American jazz pianist and composer who worked primarily as the leader of his trio.

The dollar-value method groups together goods and products into one or more pools or classes of items. Two LIFO rules highlighted in IRS Publication 538 are “dollar-value methodology” and “simplified dollar-value methodology.” You only need to file this form with your yearly taxes the first year you use LIFO costing. The IRS notes the LIFO method has complex rules and requires the completion of Form 970. Using this method, the jeweler would report deflated net income costs and a lower ending balance in the inventory. Using LIFO, the jeweler would list COGS as $150, regardless of the price at the beginning of production. By the end of production, the cost to make gold rings is now $150. The cost at the beginning of production was $100, but inflation caused the price to increase over the next month. Let’s say the same jeweler makes 10 gold rings in a month and estimates the cost of goods sold using LIFO. During times of deflation, the opposite may occur. LIFO also assumes a lower profit margin on sold items and a lower net income for inventory. Thus, the business’s cost of goods sold will be higher because the products cost more to make. The LIFO method assumes higher cost items (items made last) sell first. Items made last cost more than the first items made, because inflation causes prices to increase over time. The LIFO method will have the opposite effect as FIFO during times of inflation. That includes items in your inventory at the start of your year and those acquired during the year. Items are assumed to have been sold in order of acquisition. Closing inventory items are considered to be part of opening inventory from the same year. The items purchased or produced last are the first items sold. The last in, first out (LIFO) costing method assumes two things: Once those 10 rings are sold, the cost resets as another round of production begins. Using FIFO, the jeweler would list COGS as $100, regardless of the price it cost at the end of the production cycle. By the end of production, gold rings cost $150 to make. Due to inflation, the cost to make rings increased before production ended. When production started, it cost $100 to make gold rings. However, during price deflation, the opposite may occur.įor example, a jeweler makes 10 gold rings in a month. This process may result in a lower cost of goods sold compared to the LIFO method. As prices increase, the business’s net income may increase as well. Depending on how those prices impact a business, the business may choose an inventory costing method that best fits its needs.ĭuring inflation, the FIFO method assumes a business’s least expensive products sell first. Deflation causes prices to decrease over time. Inflation causes prices to increase over time. The price of items often fluctuates over time, due to market value or availability. The inventory items at the end of your reporting period are matched with the costs of related items recently purchased or produced. The items purchased or produced first were also the first items sold. The first in, first out (FIFO) costing method assumes two things: Your legs stay the same, but the back foot should be shifted so that your heels are aligned.Your arms should go up and your shoulders should stay back. The other foot is flat on the mat and your back leg is lengthened. When doing this pose, one foot goes out in a big step and your leg stays bent. And if you do a lot of exercising with your lower body, this pose can help loosen up your hips and legs. Warrior 1 is essential for building up your core strength. And your hands go upward in a prayer-like motion. Your other foot should slide up your inner thigh or calf. When this pose is practiced the breath needs to be steady. It strengthens many muscles in the legs and improves ankle and thigh strength. Tree pose requires some balance but is fairly easy to practice. You want to lengthen up through your spine. Keep your shoulders down and away from your ears. Your feet can be together or hip-length apart. This is a standing position, but you want to make sure your body is aligned right. Mountain pose is one of the most basic yoga poses. And you want to keep your feet planted and close to your hips. You hold your body in this position for a few breaths. Lie on your back with your arms to your side and your legs bent.Bridge pose can help strengthen your back with repeated practice.Your legs should stay planted to your mat, but your shoulders should be up and your head pointing towards the ceiling. Then you bend your elbows and lift your upper body up. You start by laying on your stomach and putting your arms to your side.Cobra Pose, also known as upward facing dog, in another back stretcher.Really, it's best to do this at the end of your practice so you can cool down. Many people have a hard time holding corpse pose as a result. But you need mental concentration to hold it. It’s a basic kind of position, which doesn’t require a lot of effort.Essentially, all you have to do for this pose is lay on your back, and keep your arms to your side. Really my main issue so far is with how many things cost real-world money. shame theres no water animals but they could maybe possibly be added in an update pretty please wildworks if by some miracle youre reading this i am begging and pleadi that still means play wild has that point against classic though. i dont actually remember if you start with any den items in ajc now that i think about it i might be misremembering. idk about the ajc starting den items now though i dug my old account from the ashes of who i once was when i decided to pick classic up again. whats there is also pretty great and the den item options you get started off with are both way more cool and way more More than classic in its hayday. i got to go to the clothing store and buy things i liked and i didnt just have to longingly stare at the paywalled options like a maiden gazing out to sea and it felt greatĭont like how theres so many fewer options for shopping for Like Everything but its a far more ambitious game than AJC what with everything being 3d modeled, and its got a younger target demo and theyre usually happy with whatever looks cool, so it checks out. idk i blew a whole half hour on overflow alone and it was almost 6 AM by the time i finished so my brains kinda muddled)Īlso, membership has become far less of an overbearing nightmare monster for AJPW in comparison to AJC! thats a good thing! personally i think that membership just Shouldn't but thats because i think any monetarily-accessed subscription anythings just Shouldn't especially in this day and age. Ive only played a few levels of overflow (and it might be because i played on expert because i Definitely have no overbearing hubris casting a shadow upon my better judgement) but the gem payout being higher than AJC for each level you complete is a very welcome change (2 gems times X number, seemingly determined by how long your path is, vs AJPWs i think it was like 5 gems times X number determined by how long your path is? either that or like 10. might update this post with extra thoughts as i go along! all opinions below the cut bc this is an absurdly long post back when 9 + 10 = 21 was still unironically funny and every cool kid in class read warriors. im also kinda biased bc ive been playing animal jam classic for years and years and YEARS. overall i havent done nearly as much as anyone else bc my account has existed for maybeee 2 or 3 hours? so this is just my first impressions. My buddy convinced me to make an animal jam play wild account since it actually still gets proper updates and so far my feelings have been. 5 Understanding the epidemiology of MDD is important in arguing for resources and identifying shortfalls in services. Depression is associated with substantial impairment, 1 - 3 comorbidity, 1 - 3 poor health, 4 and mortality. Major depressive disorder (MDD) is one of the most pressing public health problems in the United States. Associations between MDD and Axis I and II disorders were strong and significant, with variation within broad categories by specific diagnoses signaling the need for attention to the genetic and environmental reasons for such variation, as well as the implications for treatment response. The shift in highest lifetime risk from young to middle-aged adults is an important transformation in the distribution of MDD in the United States and specificity in risk for an age-period cohort. Both current and lifetime MDD were significantly associated with other specific psychiatric disorders, notably substance dependence, panic and generalized anxiety disorder, and several personality disorders.Ĭonclusions This large survey suggests a higher prevalence of MDD in the US population than large-sample estimates from the 1980s and 1990s. Women were significantly more likely to receive treatment than men. Being female Native American middle-aged widowed, separated, or divorced and low income increased risk, and being Asian, Hispanic, or black decreased risk ( P<.05). Results The prevalence of 12-month and lifetime DSM-IV MDD was 5.28% (95% confidence interval, 4.98-5.57) and 13.23% (95% confidence interval, 12.64-13.81), respectively. While Qualtrics is a powerful research tool, there are several others that are much more affordable and can also yield good results, if used correctly. Because we have access to academic researchers who already had Qualtrics accounts at their university, the cost to ClearVoice was zero - another reason you should reach out to academic researchers for your next big data collection project. We chose to use Qualtrics, perhaps the most powerful (and expensive) survey solutions out there. Here’s how we’ve gone about the actual survey process to collect our data: Tools we used in surveying marketers In an effort to find how marketers are using customer journey maps, and to propose ways for improving these customer journey maps, we’ve surveyed over 70 professional marketers to get their input. With this map, you’ll have a better understanding of how your customer is currently engaging with you, and in what ways you should sculpt that engagement path so you have more happy customers. The customer journey map, as we discuss in more detail in the next section, is an important element of any marketing campaign. Collecting research data on the customer journey Chances are they’ll want to be a part of it and will give you substantial resources towards creating your own marketing best practices. So, next time you want to do cutting-edge research, I encourage you to look up the directory of researchers at your local university and let them know what you’re working on. How much has ClearVoice needed to pay for this expert help? Nothing.
